The African Liberty Essay Competition offers an empowering platform for students across the African continent. This competition is designed to stimulate critical thinking and innovative solutions to the enduring challenge of preserving free speech in Africa. African Liberty, founded in 2007 as a collaborative project involving the Cato Institute, IMANI Africa, and the Atlas Network, seeks to advance individual freedom, peace, and prosperity in Africa through informed discourse on various social, legal, economic, and global issues.

Eligibility:

To participate in this enriching opportunity, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Applicants must hold African nationality.
• Candidates should be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at any accredited university, anywhere in the world.
• Alternatively, applicants should have completed a degree program within three years of the application deadline.

The African Liberty Essay Competition offers a rewarding incentive structure:

• Winner: $500 cash prize
• First Runner-Up: $300 cash prize

• Essays must be formatted in Times New Roman, 12-point font, and justified.
